The house was bought when Greg’s children were very young and over time the family had outgrown the space but loved the area and didn’t want to move. They also felt that their home had always been missing a utility room and dreamed of a large open plan space where they could spend more time together as a family.

Greg decided to begin his build in the bleak Lancashire mid-winter just six weeks before Christmas despite the concerns of family and friends who thought he was mad to take on such a huge project so close to the festive period.

Watertight within days

However, Greg was fully familiar with the capabilities of hup! and knew that his large 30sqm extension would be watertight within days. In fact, it took just five days to complete the main structure and get it watertight! Greg and his family chose a full-width hup! and Tiled Roof rear extension that has been knocked through into the existing rooms on the back of the house, creating a huge sociable space. Featuring two sets of bi-fold doors and full length glazed panels in the roof, the new space is perfectly linked to the garden and flooded with natural light.

Thanks to using hup! for the build Greg not only created an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, but also got the bonus of a utility area from the extra space gained due to the slimness of hup! walls. Laura Jane Clark was especially delighted with this aspect of the build as a utility is something she believes no home should be without!

The incredible speed of a hup! build meant that this busy family experienced very little mess or disruption and were soon able to start living in their stunning new space.
